Barbu Panaitescu is a Registered Dharma Yoga (600-hour) and Prana Yoga (200-hour) teacher, Shamanic healer, counsellor and teacher, and a Reiki 1-2 practitioner. He has been studying the science of yoga and how to live a yogic lifestyle in the modern world with Sri Dharma Mittra (based in NYC) for the last 3 years, and has recently moved back to Colorado to share the sacred teachings he’s absorbed with the local community. Barbu combines ancient Hatha-Raja-Ashtanga yoga with Tibetan Tantra to offer students a vigorous, heart-opening, healing and grounding practice that is focused on self-awareness and personal growth.

Barbu has been studying, practicing and teaching an emergent shamanic healing modality for the last 5 years called the Path of the White Mesa, with Valori Lordi and Mary Anne Flanagan, which incorporates lineage elements from the Qu’ero Inca, the Lakota teachings of Black Elk and White Buffalo Calf Woman, and many other wisdom threads from around the globe. Elements of shamanic/indigenous teachings are woven into his yoga and meditation classes in an inspiring and humorous way.

Barbu works on a moment-by-moment basis to foster a sense of gratitude, mindfulness, tender-heartedness and openness, bringing these elements into all his classes and healing modalities with strength and humor. He has been interested in meditation, movement, music and spirituality since a young age and has been deeply influenced by Gnostic, Vedic, Tibetan Buddhist and indigenous teachings from around the earth.

Most recently, Barbu has been studying meditation and Tantra with Dr. Reggie Ray in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rincpoche, which has deepened his personal journey immensely and is infusing all of his teachings and practices with a joyful awareness of the sacredness of our ordinary, day-to-day lives.

He will be holding yoga, meditation and shamanic workshops and intensives in the Boulder and Santa Fe regions throughout 2011 and 2012, for both experienced and brand-new practitioners.
